PARADISE BEACH ON BANTAYAN ISLAND

Paradise Beach is a beautiful, secluded strip of sand that is worth spending a day on. It’s a place where you can genuinely relax and enjoy the serenity of the moment.

The water is crystal clear for swimming.

It’s a perfect setting to work on your tan because you are away from any foot traffic passing through.

ENTRY FEE & HOURS OF OPERATION
The entry fee is 50 pesos for adults and 25 pesos for children.

The beach is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily.

There is no food or drink available at Paradise Beach so you will need to bring your own refreshments.

HOW TO GET TO PARADISE BEACH
You can get there on a motorbike or by pump boat.

If you plan to take a lot of gear, a cooler, and small children, it’s probably easier to go via pump boat. They’ll deliver you right to the beach. Ask your resort to arrange a pump boat for you. The boat captain will stand by until you’re ready to head back to your room.

On a motorbike, you have to park and then walk about ten minutes.

It’s an easy walk if you are just carrying a backpack but you wouldn’t want to carry a heavy cooler that far.

Bantayan Island flaunts an amazing little corner named Paradise Beach. This secluded area is a privately owned strip of shore (about 200 meters) ideal for snorkeling, swimming and beach sports.

February 27, 2017 — It was our second day on Bantayan Island and I could say nothing compares to the warm people here in this humble part of Cebu. For the whole day’s tour, we rented a scooter (instead of hiring a tricycle) to navigate around town. Although unfamiliar, it wasn’t difficult to ask the locales here for directions. Everyone was accommodating.

At 6:30am, we drove the same path as yesterday but this time passing by Ogtong Cave. While on the road, we noticed an abandoned structure by the cliff and we stopped by to take photos.

Going a bit further, we’ve located a basketball court where we asked for directions once again. After some brief instructions, there were a few turns, a lot more asking around and soon left on our own, we got lost. The entrance to the beach was hard to find since there was no trace of establishments nearby, no signs pointing to the site, and no locals residing in this area. It was a good thing that we chanced upon two bikers whom we asked for directions and pointed us to the narrow pathway leading to the beach.

The path was uneven and very rocky that we had to leave our scooter by the trailhead. At 7:00am, we were walking down a track we weren’t 100% confident was right. Nobody advised us about a bit of a trek going to the beach, we still felt lost and were anxious about the scooter being taken away. After 10 minutes of walking, we heard the waves crashing. Finally, we reached the beach.

The bamboo fence was open and there was no one manning the entrance. We went inside and had the beach all to ourselves. It was a tiny coastline, but the water was clear, the sand was very fine. It was noticeable how the area was well-maintained. There was a tended garden, nipa cottages by the shore, some pebble pathways, and friendly cows chewing on the greens.

There were rock formations by the pristine coastline. The first thing that crossed my mind was the 2016 Disney movie Moana. The whole place made me feel like I’m in Motunui Island!

Guide to Paradise Beach, Bantayan Island

Getting to Paradise Beach, I suggest read this blog about Bantayan Island to know the spots and landmarks if you opt to rent a scooter. Should you hail a tricycle to guide you, it’ll cost around ₱100 per tricycle. You may also get here by boat (island hopping tour inclusions). Or take a banka (boat ride) to Kota Beach, if that’s where you are staying, for ₱50.
Operating hours is from 9am to 5pm daily. Go here during weekdays so you could have the whole beach to yourselves. Crowds flock the beach during weekends;
Bring food and drinks because there are no nearby stores in this place;
The beach is perfect for frisbee, beach volleyball, and snorkeling;
Lastly, take your trash with you before you leave.

Bluewater Sumilon Island

Sumilon Island gives more popular beaches like Boracay a run for its money. Located in Oslob, this beautiful island boasts white sand shores and clear, turquoise waters perfect for some fun under the sun.

Although privately owned by the Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort Cebu, day tours are still possible for tourists. One should not miss a visit to the island’s famous white sandbar, where you can go swimming, snorkeling, and even sunbathing. You can even go on a trek to witness an amazing view of Cebu’s mainland.

Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort is located on tranquil Sumilon Island. The Island remains as one of Cebu’s best kept secrets and is found on the southeastern tip of the mainland. It is 125 kilometers from Cebu City and is in close proximity to Dumaguete. The island has an area of 24 hectares and is surrounded by crystal clear waters with varying aquamarine hues.

It is the first marine protected area in the Philippines and was made a fish sanctuary in 1974 under the guidance of Siliman University Marine Reserve. During dives, one will find varied marine species and even occasional sightings of black tip sharks. Pristine white sand beaches are situated in different areas in Sumilon.

Its sandbar is well known for its changing shapes and shifting locations around the island, depending on the season. On the island, there is a natural lagoon teeming with high mangroves. There are also natural caves where fishermen used to seek refuge. On the southside, a lighthouse rests on a protected tree park. Beside it is a “Baluarte”, a historical watchtower built as part of a warning system to the wart slavers and marauders in the 19th century.

•Sumilon Island’s Sandbar

Like whale watching at Oslob we didn’t include Sumilon in our itinerary when we started planning our trip. We’ve seen photos of the Sumilon sandbar before but thought it required a separate trip. However one of our friends who had recently gone to Oslob suggested we try out Sumilon. It’s just 15 minutes away by motorized banca or outrigger boat from Oslob she told us. We needed no further urging. Before doing the whale shark watching we arranged with BCD’s Place for a boat to take us to Sumilon.

Sumilon is actually privately owned with a resort in place: the Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort. It is not really a place for shoestring travelers but the resort owner allows non-resort guests to stay at the sandbar for a minimal fee. And this sandbar happens to be the most remarkable natural feature of the small island.

We got to Sumilon just in time for lunch which we took aboard our boat (the sandbar has no facilities and not even a shade). Afterwards we bummed around the place and even walked to the main island where we climbed up a rock precipice for a panoramic view of the sandbar.

When we arrived here a good portion of the sandbar was still visible, but somewhat similar to our experience at the Manjuyod Sandbar in Bais, by early afternoon the sandbar was almost fully submerged courtesy of the high tide. The water here is not as deep as in Manjuyod and there was a bit of the white sand still above water, however, so we could roam around without the need for life vests. And like Manjuyod’s the waters here are crystal-clear. It was evident, however, that if we wanted a more dramatic view of Sumilon’s sandbar, one with the white sand fully exposed, we would have to be here quite early in the morning.

Obo-ob Mangroves Garden

Lots of tourists go to Bantayan Island for its beaches, but nature lovers will discover that there’s another thing worth seeing here: the Obo-ob Mangrove Garden. One of the most famous tourist spot in the island of Bantayan.

The sound of the blue waves lapping against the white seashore and a break of dawn welcomed our vessel as we approached the port of Sta. Fe in Bantayan Island. That moment then I realized and have set the bar that I’m gonna be having a blast on this vacation.

I haven’t had enough sleep that night because I started traveling since 11:45 PM from Cebu City. Transportation was so fast because it was midnight and there was no traffic. The people in the bus were surprised that it only took around 2 hours to travel from Cebu City to Hagnaya Port in San Remigio.

Bantayan Island houses an area for mangrove preservation that is maintained and managed by the local organization named OMAGIECA. The Mangrove Garden in Obo-ob raises environmental awareness about how mangroves play a significant role in marine ecosystem. It contributes to the fisheries, coastal protection, erosion control and carbon sequestration.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) ??” Bantayan chapter is not against planting of mangroves, but is against planting of bakhaw (Rhizophora species) on seagrass areas.

Robert Ybañez, who represented the chamber in a dialogue with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Bantayan last Tuesday, said the government’s mangrove reforestation project in Bantayan has affected fishermen who rely on shell gleaning in the seagrasses. It has also obstructed the navigation lanes of the fishing boats.

Mactan in Cebu

Mactan or Maktan is a densely populated island located a few kilometres (~1 mile) from Cebu Island in the Philippines. The island is part of Cebu Province and it is divided into Lapu-Lapu City and the municipality of Cordova. The island is separated from Cebu by the Mactan Channel which is crossed by two bridges: the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge. The island covers some 65 square kilometres (25 sq mi) and is home to some 470,000 people, making it the nation’s most densely populated island. Along with Olango Island Group, the isles are administered as 1 city and a municipality covering 75.25 square kilometres (29.05 sq mi).

-History-

The island was already a thriving settlement before it was colonized by Spain in the 16th century. Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived on the island in 1521 and became involved in warfare among the kingdoms, only to be killed in battle by the warriors of Datu Lapu-Lapu, the sovereign in the island.

However, oral tradition also dictates that the island where the Battle of Mactan might have taken place in is Poro Island in the northeast instead. The oral tradition is backed by recent[when?] archaeological evidence of such a battle taking place in Poro island during the 16th century.By 1730, the Catholic Augustinian friars established the town of Opon. It was later renamed as the city of Lapu-Lapu by means of the Republic Act 3134, signed by Pres. Carlos P. Garcia on June 17, 1961. Congressman Manuel A. Zosa, the representative of the Sixth District of Cebu, sponsored the Bill converting the former municipality of Opon into the present day City of Lapu-Lapu.Apart from the airport, today the island is known for its industrial factories, which are some of the most successful industrial ventures in the Philippines. Many of them are located at the Mactan Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), an industrial tax-free zone opened in 1979 that includes over 35 business ventures, about 50 percent of which are Japanese-owned.Also important to the island is its high-class tourism industry and the production of furniture, as well as guitars, ukuleles and other musical instruments.

Tourist attractions

Being one of the major tourist islands of Cebu, Mactan Island boasts of a diverse collection of tourist spots and attractions. Being a coral island, Mactan offers some of the best diving, snorkeling, island hopping, jet ski, sailing and cultural activities of any island in the Philippines.

Mactan Island lies across the Mactan Channel, opposite Cebu City in the southeast of the Philippines. It is modern and yet has retained its greenness and features lovely sandy beaches and good diving spots off the neighboring islets. Mactan has a long history with many stories, the most frequently told being about the Battle of Mactan. In 1521, when Portuguese-born explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived onshore he was killed by Mactan Chief Lapu Lapu and his men. Visitors can visit both the Magellan and Lapu Lapu shrines while visiting the island. Mactan is also important as home of Mactan – Cebu International Airport, the country’s second busiest airport as well as the country’s largest export processing zone. Basdaku White Beach

If Moalboal is included in your Cebu itinerary, then you should not miss a visit to another beautiful white sand beach—Basdaku Beach. In Cebuano, “Basdaku” literally means “big sand,” which is what you’ll exactly get when you go to this beach—a long and wide shoreline dotted with white, powdery sand you’ll want to lie on.

The best thing about it is that it’s a public beach, so everyone is surely welcome there. Aside from the usual beach bumming and swimming, tourists also prefer snorkeling and scuba diving since Moalboal is known as one of Cebu’s most popular dive spots.

For accommodations, there are many resorts in the area. Camping is also allowed for overnighters who are on a budget.

Because summer doesn’t end when the rainy season starts, it’s time for you to check out Moalboal’s Basdaku White Beach located in Cebu! The are plenty of other things to do in Cebu and you just can’t miss this one!

Basdaku is a place (barangay) located in Moalboal, Cebu. It caters a kilometer long stretch of white sand beach, turquoise blue waters, and other saltwater wonders. It is also known as Basdaku Beach Resort. An alternative to its relative beach, the Panagsama White Beach, Basdaku Beach Resort is more popular with locals, and not quite much known for foreign tourists. The beach is very much available to the public. With an entrance fee of just 5 pesos each, you may enjoy the long stretch of white-sand at its finest.Tents are readily available in stores and accommodation setters in the area. As for us, we brought our own tent to reduce cost.

The pitching of a tent is FREE! You won’t have to pay for anything if you bring one! If in case you don’t have one, worry no more as there are many establishments and homestays waiting for adventurers like you. Price differs per room and accommodation type.Public comfort rooms are always available in the daytime. They require a certain fee for a clean water supply. One pail of water costs 5 – 15 pesos. There will be someone to assist you in collecting the water and bringing it to your comfort room of choice. Freshwater is pretty much a necessity in this area. When you need to clean up, it costs around 20-30 pesos (0.75 USD), and that depends on how much water you would have to consume. If 20-30 pesos didn’t fit your needs, to have to pay for another set of clean water.

~Local Food Mania
Food will always be part of our travels. In Basdaku White Beach, food stalls, sari-sari stores, and “karinderyas” are pretty much available everywhere, especially in a daytime. Ihaw-ihaw, lutong-ulam, ready to eat foods, fruits; soft drinks and crackers can all be found in a store. When night strikes, most of the stores tend to close. Only a few remaining stores will stay open but most of the owners are sleeping!

~Beach Bumming and other ActivitiesWhat to do in a beach resort?

Beach bumming, yeah! As for me I went on a walk along the stretch of the beach. It’s pretty amazing to know that there are huge coral stones on the other side where people are not mostly going to. Some parts are also mossy but that only means it’s healthy as there were not many people going to that side of the beach. This part is generally quiet and peaceful, perfect for your own quiet time and self-searching.Of course, we also went for a swim. In some shallow parts, you will find small species of school fish roaming around the area and just happily swimming freely. They look lovely! The salt waterbed, I could say is clean and crystal-clear. Even when the water is neck-deep, I am still seeing my feet! For the activities, most resorts offer an island hopping tour to Pescador Island. In Pescador Island, snorkeling activities are highly encouraged. You will also be witnessing a sardine run if you are lucky enough! That’s more than a thousand pieces of sardine fish not in a can! From its clean blue waters to its diverse environment underwater, it’s a rich source of marine species and corals. Cebu truly has many of the best beaches in the world!

” Cambais Falls ” by Kimberly Suace

Cambais Falls is an amazing waterhole in the hills of Alegria, Cebu. This Falls is the best-kept secret in southern Cebu and it is a series of milky blue waterfalls and cliff jumps connected by wonky bamboo ladders, it is an adventures dream come true. In this guide, I will show you where to find Cambais Falls, what to expect once you arrive, as well as some photos to inspire your travels. Cambais Falls in Alegria Municipality is an exciting place to visit at the same time quite intricate to find. One needs to pass through rough roads and cross over streams dotted with rocks of various sizes and shapes, through the woods amidst forest trails.

Things to consider:
1. Enjoy Nature at your own risk.
2. Bring the following: Water (At least 1 liter), Sun protection (like shades, umbrella or hat),Extra clothes, Aqua shoes or trekking sandals, Snacks, Extra money (for emergencies)
3. Keep an eye always on all of your important things and valuables.
4. Keep your glass, bottles & plastics with you. Practice The Leave No Trace Principles.
5. Lastly, BEHAVE properly. Let’s RESPECT “others living there”.

This famous natural waterfall attracts active trekkers and curious inexperienced travelers who love nature and water. It is the uniqueness and exquisite beauty of this natural gem that captures visitors to see her majestic and endless falling water. There are 3 levels of Cambais Falls. Prior to reaching waterfalls, you need to walk to about 15-20 minutes. The trail is mostly flat and shaded due to the surrounding trees. This three levels at Cambais as well great spots for swimming. This place has a beautiful view when it comes to taking pictures, videos and etc. This place good for family bounding and outing., And it can remove stress.

When you arrive at the parking lot to Cambais Falls you will head up to the right of the road where a sign marks the start of the trail. I think you will go in flip-flops and it will took 20 minutes walking along the trial ( I think? ) until you reached the ticket office. Here you paid 50 pesos per person for entry fee. From the ticket office, it is just one more minute of walking to Cambais Falls.

Cambais Falls has two distinct levels. On the first level, a huge, milky blue pool is surrounded by ferns, boulders, and trees. The waterfall at this level pours over the limestone cliff wall without extreme force. It seems to drip off the limestone in lines, which creates a beautiful scene from below. There is a lot to explore on this level like a few small caves and plenty of rocks to jump off.On this first level, there is a solid cliff jump. From about 7 meters and then 10 meters, you can jump directly from the waterfall, if you have a fighting spirit to jump off. The spot to land it is quite small as it isn’t too deep and you need to hit the right landing area. Make sure you check the depth before jumping because it was so dangerous if you hit you head in the stone accidentally.

In the second level, you need to clamber up a small cascade using a rope. You then wade your way through the blue water until reaching a bamboo ladder. This takes you to the second level where another beautiful waterfall crashes down into a private pool. This is was an amazing little area and most people don’t head up there so you can get away from the crowd although.

The main waterfalls in the third level have 2 cascades. It also looks like a mini version of the level 5 in Aguinid Falls. The third level is the perfect spot for a 20 ft high.
While the place is relatively undeveloped, there is a cottage for rent in the area if you decide to stay the night. You can also rent the cottage for the day. You should bring your own food if you are planning to go to the place. Just make sure not to leave any of your trash in the area.
Getting to the falls

*Your journey to the Cambais Falls starts at the Cebu South Bus Terminal where you have to hop on a bus headed for Alegria. Once you reach the town, you can hire a motorcycle to bring you to the jump-off point. You will have to trek around one kilometer from the jump-off point to the Cambais Falls.
*First, you need to get to Alegria Town and start you real journey to Cambais Falls. When you are in Cebu City, head for Cebu South Bus Terminal and take a bus (preferrabaly Ceres line) that travels to Santander via Barili. Let the conductor know that you are getting off at Alegria town centre in advance.

The Cambais Falls is just one of the natural tourist attractions you can find in Cebu. Since the area around the Cambais Falls is fairly untouched, it is one place where you can commune with nature while enjoying yourself in its clear cool waters.

” Museo Sugbo ” by Kimberly Suace

Museo Sugbo is the Cebu Provincial Museum located in Cebu City, Philippines. Located at what was once the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) on M. J. Cuenco Avenue in the old Spanish-era district of Cebu called Tejero. It is some four blocks north of Plaza Independencia. Designed in 1869 by Domingo de Escondrillas, the lone architect in Cebu at the time, the Cárcel de Cebú was originally proposed as the Carcel del Distrito, the main prison for the Visayas District. After twenty years of use, a renovation was ordered in 1892, which added more buildings behind the main structure that now serves as the first six galleries of the museum.
For those people who loves history, this place is perfectly fit for you to visit. The museum is also a great place to witness the glorious past of Cebu by its various collections of rare artifacts and antiques which are part of the Cebu’s grandeur, don’t worry there’s a note beside on each artifacts and antiques. I believe that the place is also great for taking different kinds of photoshoots.

The whole museum is actually divided into four galleries: The two permanent and two special galleries with different artifacts based on the time they were found or their categories. There are too many items like different antique saints donated from the museum, The antique gold buddha, the military swords owned by the spanish encomiendos, The chinese and japanese porcelains, the original letters written by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, A sketch made by Jovito Abellana after he was released from the Japanese prison, Japanese flag posted in one of Japanese military base during the Japanese occupation, A newspaper published during the Japanese era, The Japanese military jugs it has a interesting thing fact about these water jugs because their designs vary based on their ranks. And the typewriter on used during the American occupation, The sake cups used by the Japanese Generals occupying the country. So, you can see in the inside they treasure the lots of money used in the past. The Bayonet used by the Japanese soldiers in this kind of knife were used by the Japanese soldiers to demonstrate cruelty. As what I’ve read, babies were thrown upwards and then catched by the tip of a bayonet. So a bayonet (from French baïonnette) it is a knife, sword, or spike-shaped weapon designed to fit in, on, over or underneath the muzzle of a rifle, musket or similar weapon, effectively turning the gun into a spear. And there’s also a camera used by a journalist during the American occupation, the Surroundings are the photographs and post cards issued at that time and some bus tickets own by Corominas. (brown cards below the camera) and they have a anting-anting of Leon Kilat. It was said that he wore this as an interior clothing and etc. This antiques and artifacts are the evidence that in the past we colonize by the spaniards and etc. Lastly, there is a wishing well at the back portion of the museum and you can also see the canon that is use in a war from the past.

The whole museum closes at 5:30pm, some rooms close at 5 so we really did took our time efficiently to visit all the rooms in the museum and check out everything. Btw, the museum also had their own gift shop and coffee shop. They said its underground used to be a prison during the Japanese Era.

Museo Sugbo is located in M.J. Cuenco Avenue in the old Spanish-era area of Cebu named Tejero.

Tips how to get there.

The Cebu Provincial Museum is located in M.J. Cuenco Avenue. If you are coming from Mabolo or Mandaue take a jeepney with signage “Marteres” AND “Cathedral”. This museum is a few walks before reaching the corner of T. Padilla and M.J. Cuenco.
From Maguikay, Mandaue Coliseum, or Mabolo area, take a 21D jeepney. It passes by the front of Museo Sugbo. Fare from Maguikay is P10 per person, from Mabolo P8.

If you are in SM area, ride 01K and tell driver that you will get off in the corner of T.Padilla and M.J. Cuenco. Note though that you will have to walk 2 blocks to reach Museo Sugbo.
If you are coming from Colon, take 01K, it also passes by the Museum on the jeepneys’ way to SM and Cebu North Bus terminal. “Terrazas de Flores” by Kimberly Suace

Being adventurous helps us look at life differently because we explore the place here in philippines especially in Cebu City. The familiar places can be comforting, calming and predictable however breaking our daily routine and exploring new places opens up new perspective and gets one’s creative. Terrazas de Flores is one of the newest cafes and it compromise the beautiful attraction here in Cebu Terrazas de Flores is located in Malubog, Cebu City its about 200 to 250 meters (7 minutes) away from Tops Lookout .Terrazas de Flores is known to be the only flower terraces in the Philippines. Aside from its cafe, Terrazas de Flores has a vast area with wide range of plants and over 100 types of flowers you can take a picture of you want.Terrazas de Flores Botanical Garden might be the one can catch up your interest.
Terrazas de Flores botanical garden has a variety of ornamental and non-ornamental plants planted in terraces overlooking mountain ranges it came into the limelight when the Sirao Flower Farm opened its doors to the public.Aside from the plants, the garden has a number of cabanas, a perfect place to relax and unwind because of it’s sorrounding many tourist visited here just to take a good pictures, all i can say is perfect-picture almost everywhere.Definitely a perfect place for rest and relaxation, away from the stress. So, the popularity of flower gardens is expected to increase following the opening of the first flower terraces in the Philippines, the Terrazas de Flores Botanical Garden.ENTRANCE FEE
The entrance fee is 100 Pesos (P100) only wherein the forty pesos (P40) is consumable. There is a parking area uphill, atop the entrance. The road going up is steep and narrow (about 3-meter wide only), so add this to your expectation when you get there on a private vehicle. Parking is free and also they’ve got limited parking slots so I’d suggest you go early.Terrazas de Flores open at 8 AM to 8 PM and the food attendant stated it is open 24 hours but just be there between 8:00am to 8:00pm just to be sure. When go inside you feel and see the place was still relaxing and not too crowded since the botanical garden is very spacious. They have a fixed rate of P100 per entry, which is reasonable for a place that is clearly well-maintained. If you are a kind of person that is sensitive when it comes cleanliness, i recommend you that this place is perfect for you to visit. The place also has a café where visitors can have a light meal or coffee. The café also offers desserts and other refreshments.Their Cafe has around 5 or 6 tables (correct me if I’m wrong). Gotta love its relaxing and homey vibe! And about the consumable forty pesos (P40), you can claim it at the restaurant situated in the middle of terraces and you think it is not enough, the place has a cafe/restaurant to feed your hungry stomach, so you may bring some extra cash with you when you go there. If you want to go there at any day of the year, the perfect spot is the cabana and the outside of the cafe or the benches underneath a bamboo tree (might be your perfect spot). In addition, viewing decks and cabanas are available for use by visitors to give them the chance to enjoy the beauty of nature in its full glory. We availed their Php 2,000 Valentine’s Day package wherein it includes FREE entrance and cabana during daytime, a bottle of wine, cold cuts and cheese, and coffee for two. They also serve rice meals, sandwiches, pasta and pizza. However, some of the items are not yet available as they are still improving their food and drink menu. I’d suggest you order food or drinks before exploring the place as their food takes a while to be served. There are many ways to getting there: so, first,
1.If you are a group going there, the best way to get there is to rent a van for hire and tour Tops, Top of Cebu, Temple of Leah and Terrrazas de Flores – they are just a few meters away from each other. (You may want to check out GoToTops Facebook Page).
2.You can also hire a taxi, Grab or Uber and tell the driver you will be going to Terrazas de Flores.

4.If you want to go there on a private vehicle, the place is just a few meters away from Tops and Temple of Leah. See map below for direction.Terrazas de Flores is definitely worth-visiting specially if you’re longing for a break away from the busy city life or looking for a cafe that’s peaceful and relaxing!

” Cebu Wake Park” by Kimberly Suace

Cebu Wake Park is very nice to go especially on summer. You can beat the summer heat while doing something fun and exciting activities. Cebu Wake Park can relief stress to the customers because it will cover up of enjoyment and excitement feeling once you enter the entrance. Before, wakeboarding in Cebu could only be done by boat. The 1st wake camp was held in the open waters across the South Reclamation Project in 2011. But with the opening of cable parks, the sport became more accessible to locals. The first cable wake park to open was in Danasan Eco Adventure Park. They have many amenities to offer other than wakeboarding but their location is quite far from the city.

The Cable wakeboarding allows you to wakeboard without a boat. Instead, you are pulled by an overhead cable system. This is ideal for riders who have limited or no access to a boat. The cost is considerably cheaper and more hassle-free than before.

Enter the Cebu Wake Park

The Cebu Wake Park recently opened their doors to the public. So now everyone can access the experience of fun and the thrill of wakeboarding. As what I know, they feature a Sesitec System 2.0 – it’s a two tower system with a cable pulling you from one tower to the other. This system is best for the beginners because it allows the cable operator to change the speed. Slower for beginners and faster for advance riders. Wakeboarding behind a boat is a bit more challenging. They both have different kinds of pull but you can do the same tricks on both. Well, it’s up to you.

Location
This is the best part! The Cebu Wake Park is Location
Papa Kit’s Marina and Fishing Lagoon is located in Silot Bay, Poblacion Liloan, Cebu, on the right heading north road, before Liloan Municipal Hall. It’s just a quick twenty five minute drive from the city. You can pass the new Cansaga Bay Bridge (heading towards Consolacion and Liloan). From there all you need to do is drive straight till you see a sign that says Papa Kit’s.

Getting There
By car – about 45 to 60 minutes drive, either through the coastal road or the North National Highway, passing Mandaue and Consolacion.

Public transportation – You may take any Liloan bound jeepneys either from Highway Mandaue, AS Fortuna, SM Cebu or Parkmall. Fare is around P15-20. You may ask the jeepney driver to stop before the municipal hall, but it’s never hard to find since it’s just along the road. Should you want to take a bus ride, head to the North Bus Terminal. All north bound buses pass by Liloan but this may take time since buses follow schedules and may wait for seats to get filled before departing.

Price or cost

Entrance Fee – P100
*P50 is consumable which may be used to purchase food and beverage in any of their restaurants.

Wake boarding ticket prices
One ride wake boarding will cost 100 pesos, the one hour wake boarding will cost 400 per peron, the two hours wake boarding will cost 650 pesos, the four hours wake boarding will cost 950 pesos per person, and eight hours wake boarding will cost 1350 pesos per person. All riders will pay the fee per person but they will be split or joined in groups to share a session depending on the number of hours paid. If we were 7, we paid P400 each and was split in 2 groups. Papa Kit’s wake park is neat, has very pretty wake boards, has well organized rules and very friendly and accommodating coaches but it’s honestly costly for the actual ride hours we experienced. With only 3 turns, 2 rounds in each turn in an hour, we all felt that we didn’t get the value of what we paid for.
By the way, an hour of wake boarding on weekdays will cost you Php 400.00 while Php 500.00 per head over weekends. You also have the option to ride unlimited on weekdays for only Php 5,999.00 or Php 8,999.00 for unlimited weekday and weekends.

The Place

It’s different from the fresh water wake park in Danasan, Papakits has it on the sea side so water is salty. The water feels way cleaner from Danasan only that it just feels heavier to ride on salt water. The wake park itself is spacious and the cable is longer. One drawback is that there’s only 1 cable line for riders to take turns with, Danasan has two. The wake park has overnight accommodation. If you come in with a group, you may stay in their room at P3800 per night. They also sell wake boarding gears and outfits for the serious aficionados.

Everyone needs a place to relax and to have fun spending their love ones, family, classmates, bestfriends and etc. So I will introduce you a place that is suits to this needs, it’s D’ family park. D’ family park is the perfect place to go for bonding. D’ Family Park was established within a 20- hectare property of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District in Talamban. D’ Family Park was conceived in 199 by former Metropolitan Cebu Water District General Manager, Fr. Francisco G. Silva. The construction started in 1996 with it’s initial funding coming from former congressman Raul del Mar. The D’ Family Park was open to the public last May 8, 1999 with the development is still on progress.

D’ Family Park is very nice place because you can jogging exercise here, kick the ball around the ground or in short it’s called as soccer, and enjoying the nice view of nature. The D’ Family Park has a couple of mini-zoo and the park which includes the things you can do inside of D Family Park like picnic campsites, children’s playground with swings, seesaws and slides. The D’ Family Park has a stage equipped with the sound system provided. This thing is very useful especially when we holding some events such as reunions, birthday party wedding party and etc. As what I tell you earlier, the D’ Family Park has a huge field or ground where you can play soccer, baseball, volleyball, picnics and etc. and also D Family Park has a good path or way that is good for jogging exercise together with your friends, family, beloved ones and stranger.

One of the main attraction of D’ Family Park is the huge lake. To be honest, when I go to the D’ Family Park the huge lake is not very nice to look at as before because as what I’ve seen, the huge lake is seem so polluted.

The place also has a swimming pool for children and adults. When you planned to swim in the pool make sure you wear a proper swimming attire because the guard is so strict.

Additionally, This D’ Family Park is also good as venue for shooting a film and having a photoshoot. I remember when one of the friends having a photoshoot for her debut. And all I can say about the result after doing her photoshoot is, it was nice because of it’s nature sorroundings.

For children, the entrance fee at D’ Family Park is just 10 pesos only and 15 pesos for adults. The swimming pool has also a entrance fee which is cost 25 pesos only for children and 35 pesos only for adults. Their are a number of cottages which is cost 100 pesos if you rented that is close to the swimming pool. While 150 pesos when you choose to rent that is close to the playground. Renting the stage or multi-purpose hall at D’ Family Park will cost in between of 2000 pesos and 3500 pesos, (actually, it’s depends on the length that is use during on that time.) The sound system may rented that will cost 1000 to 2000 its also depends the lenght of usage that is used.

When you read this blog, I’m hoping this information will help you to knkw about D’ Family Park because this D’ Family Park is very a nice place to go here in cebu. In case, if you plan to go there, be sure you are together with your friends, families, beloved ones and etc. so that you can leisure some time to have fun inside the D’ Family Park. Be sure to bring some blankets, mats and foods so you can have a enjoy nature picnic here in D’ Family Park. For summary, D’ Family Park is good escape for some fun and very great for romantic moments with your beloved ones and bonding with children or kids, family and friends and also good for walk and jogging exercise in this park, swimming, mini-zoo, playground, events and the most important thing is this is not expensive and I think the alcohol beverages amd smoking is not allowed at D’ Family Park to maintain its wholesome atmosphere of D’ Family Park.
