” Cebu Wake Park” by Kimberly Suace

Cebu Wake Park is very nice to go especially on summer. You can beat the summer heat while doing something fun and exciting activities. Cebu Wake Park can relief stress to the customers because it will cover up of enjoyment and excitement feeling once you enter the entrance. Before, wakeboarding in Cebu could only be done by boat. The 1st wake camp was held in the open waters across the South Reclamation Project in 2011. But with the opening of cable parks, the sport became more accessible to locals. The first cable wake park to open was in Danasan Eco Adventure Park. They have many amenities to offer other than wakeboarding but their location is quite far from the city.

The Cable wakeboarding allows you to wakeboard without a boat. Instead, you are pulled by an overhead cable system. This is ideal for riders who have limited or no access to a boat. The cost is considerably cheaper and more hassle-free than before.

Enter the Cebu Wake Park

The Cebu Wake Park recently opened their doors to the public. So now everyone can access the experience of fun and the thrill of wakeboarding. As what I know, they feature a Sesitec System 2.0 – it’s a two tower system with a cable pulling you from one tower to the other. This system is best for the beginners because it allows the cable operator to change the speed. Slower for beginners and faster for advance riders. Wakeboarding behind a boat is a bit more challenging. They both have different kinds of pull but you can do the same tricks on both. Well, it’s up to you.

Location
This is the best part! The Cebu Wake Park is Location
Papa Kit’s Marina and Fishing Lagoon is located in Silot Bay, Poblacion Liloan, Cebu, on the right heading north road, before Liloan Municipal Hall. It’s just a quick twenty five minute drive from the city. You can pass the new Cansaga Bay Bridge (heading towards Consolacion and Liloan). From there all you need to do is drive straight till you see a sign that says Papa Kit’s.

Getting There
By car – about 45 to 60 minutes drive, either through the coastal road or the North National Highway, passing Mandaue and Consolacion.

Public transportation – You may take any Liloan bound jeepneys either from Highway Mandaue, AS Fortuna, SM Cebu or Parkmall. Fare is around P15-20. You may ask the jeepney driver to stop before the municipal hall, but it’s never hard to find since it’s just along the road. Should you want to take a bus ride, head to the North Bus Terminal. All north bound buses pass by Liloan but this may take time since buses follow schedules and may wait for seats to get filled before departing.

Price or cost

Entrance Fee – P100
*P50 is consumable which may be used to purchase food and beverage in any of their restaurants.

Wake boarding ticket prices
One ride wake boarding will cost 100 pesos, the one hour wake boarding will cost 400 per peron, the two hours wake boarding will cost 650 pesos, the four hours wake boarding will cost 950 pesos per person, and eight hours wake boarding will cost 1350 pesos per person. All riders will pay the fee per person but they will be split or joined in groups to share a session depending on the number of hours paid. If we were 7, we paid P400 each and was split in 2 groups. Papa Kit’s wake park is neat, has very pretty wake boards, has well organized rules and very friendly and accommodating coaches but it’s honestly costly for the actual ride hours we experienced. With only 3 turns, 2 rounds in each turn in an hour, we all felt that we didn’t get the value of what we paid for.
By the way, an hour of wake boarding on weekdays will cost you Php 400.00 while Php 500.00 per head over weekends. You also have the option to ride unlimited on weekdays for only Php 5,999.00 or Php 8,999.00 for unlimited weekday and weekends.

The Place

It’s different from the fresh water wake park in Danasan, Papakits has it on the sea side so water is salty. The water feels way cleaner from Danasan only that it just feels heavier to ride on salt water. The wake park itself is spacious and the cable is longer. One drawback is that there’s only 1 cable line for riders to take turns with, Danasan has two. The wake park has overnight accommodation. If you come in with a group, you may stay in their room at P3800 per night. They also sell wake boarding gears and outfits for the serious aficionados.
