No matter how fluent we are in speaking our native language, it turns out we still have so much to learn because there are many words out there that describe common things we encounter every day but had no idea these words even existed.

- BALINTATAW
English term: Pupil of the eye
Meaning:
The pupil is a hole located in the center of the iris of the eye that allows light to strike the retina.
Example:
Si Angel ay may kakayahang makakita ng nakaraan ang kanyang balintataw.
- SALIPAPAW
English: Airplane
Meaning:
A powered flying vehicle with fixed wings and a weight greater than that of the air it displaces.
Example:
Hindi ko makakalimutan ang naranasan ko noong ako’y sumakay ng salipapaw.
- BALINTUNA
English term: Unbelievable
Meaning:
So great or extreme as to be difficult to believe; extraordinary
Example:
Balintuna naman, ang mga barko para sa mga bilanggo ang may isa sa pinakamalusog at pinakaligtas na mga rekord sa paglalakbay sa dagat noong panahong iyon
- HIMATON
English term: Clue
Meaning:
A piece of evidence or information used in the detection of a crime or solving of a mystery.
Example:
Nagbigay ng mga himaton si Kier upang maintindihan ni Aina ang nais niyang sabihin.
- ANLUWAGE
English term: Carpenter
Meaning:
A person who makes and repairs wooden objects and structures.
Example:
Ang anluwage ay gumawa ng muwebles para sa lood ng bahay.
- DURUNGAWAN
English term: Window
Meaning:
An opening in the wall or roof of a building or vehicle that is fitted with glass or other transparent material in a frame to admit light or air and allow people to see out.
Example:
Sabi nila na ang ating mga mata ay durungawan ng ating kaluluwa.
- DUYOG
English term: Eclipse
Meaning:
An obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of illumination.
Example:
Inaabangan ng mga taga-Arizona ang pagdating ng duyog ngayong gabi.
- KARTAMUNETA
English term: Wallet
Meaning:
A pocket-sized, flat, folding holder for money and plastic cards.
Example:
Binigyan ako ni Angela ng pamasahe dahil nakalimutan ko kanina ang aking kartamuneta sa aking bahay.
- MIKTINIG
English term: Microphone
Meaning:
An instrument for converting sound waves into electrical energy variations which may then be amplified, transmitted, or recorded.
Example:
Hindi malinaw ang kanta ni Jimin dahil sira ang kanyang miktinig.
- PAYNETA
English term: Comb
Meaning:
A strip of plastic, metal, or wood with a row of narrow teeth, used for untangling or arranging the hair.
Example:
Nanghiram si Laiza ng payneta ni Regine.
